Born January 15, 1927, in Beuthen, Germany, she was an accomplished athlete in her youth and continued to enjoy competitive sports throughout her life, participating in tennis, bowling, horseback riding, and the Senior Olympics.

Peggy had a generous spirit and enjoyed helping others, volunteering for many years at the Presbyterian Manor and the Combat Air Museum, and she was always willing to provide translation services.
Washburn students remember Peggy from the Law Library, where she spent most of her career. She had a special rapport with young people and enjoyed working in the academic world.

She leaves behind the light of her life, her husband of thirty-eight years, Don; daughters Linda (Larry) McGurn and Trisch (Kevin) Hackett; grandchildren Maureen (Tim) Jones, Russell Steele, and Philip Steele; great-grandchildren Hannah and Emma Jones; in Germany her brother Peter (Margret) Dziuk ; stepmother Ruth Dziuk, sister Gabriele Haas; niece Manuela Haas; cousin Kristina Schörr; and many more family and friends.
