  Notes	Chris Christians, 88, of Waterloo, died Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center. He was born on September 16, 1928 in rural Aplington, Iowa, son of John and Mattie Rinnels Christians. He married Gvonne Cook on August 3, 1955 in Waterloo; she died November 3, 1992. Chris served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Construction Machinery for six years and then twenty-eight years at Carnation Dairy/Swiss Valley Farms, retiring in 1987. He then worked at the Waterloo Senior Center, retiring in 2004 and then volunteered there until 2015. Chris is survived by three daughters, Pamela (Randy) Nyman, Paula (Craig) Crowley, and Patty (Mike) Kruse; two grandchildren, Brianna (Chris) Sime and Mitchell (Kelly) Crowley; two great-grandchildren, Presley and Griffin Sime; five step grandchildren, Jenny (Dusty) Platte, Chris (Michelle Sagert) Kruse, Josh (Rachelle) Kruse, Matt (Martha Laughman) Nyman, and Heidi Hayden; eight step great-grandchildren, Daniel and Sam Platte, Rylee Pilar, Bennet, Kaya, and Chloe Kruse, Aiden and Maddox Nyman­Laughman; two sisters, Helen Harris and Mattie Schwab; one brother, John Christians, Jr.; and special family friend, Karla Murphy. He was preceded in death by, his wife; his parents; two brothers, Simon Christians and Ed Christians; and two sisters, Christina Hoodjer and Nellie Hogencamp. Services 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel Visitation 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel as well as one hour prior to the services Cemetery Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors by Evansdale AMVETS Post #31, Waterloo AMVETS Post #19, and the Iowa Army National Guard Honors Detail
