- Charles Edward Cutlip, 84, of Craigsville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Summersville Regional Medical Center after a short illness.
Charles was born August 10, 1927 in Allingdale to the late Lester and Rahly Jones Cutlip. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Schindel Road, Craigsville. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.
Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge 107, Camden-on-Gauley, and was also a member of the Nicholas County Shriners Club. He retired with 40 years of employment with the railroad and 29 years of service with the military. He was also a carpenter and loved to build things. He also loved gardening, hunting, fishing and the outdoors, when his health permitted.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Cutlip, and his son, Michael Cutlip.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Jessie Cutlip of Craigsville; one son, the Rev. Byron David Cutlip of Cross Lanes; two daughters, Debbie and her husband, Pastor Charles Stevens, of Craigsville and Ladonna and her husband, Sean Meadors, of Kingsland, Ga.; one sister, Bobbie Groves and her husband, Carl, of Craigsville; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Simons-Coleman Funeral Home, Richwood with the Rev. Gary Gordon and the Rev. Damon Hanshaw officiating. Interment will follow in Craigsville Cemetery, Craigsville.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
