Clarence Wayne "Ted" Thayer
FLATWOODS - Clarence Wayne "Ted" Thayer, 85, of Flatwoods died May 6, 2001, in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, Clarksburg, after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 22, 1916, in Braxton County, a son of the late G. Cleve and Maggie Wayne Thayer.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Russell, Cecil, Herbert and Everett Thayer, and nephew, Ronnie Davis.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II having service in the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment in the South Pacific, including the airborne
assault on Corregidor during the Philippine liberation from the Japanese army.
He was a former employee of Babcock & Wilcox, Akron, Ohio, and was retired from High's Dairy Plant, Washington, D.C.
Surviving are sons, Dale of Walton, Donald of Craigsville; sister, Leta Thayer Davis of Flatwoods; grandchildren, Kristi, Jamie and Callie Thayer; several nieces
and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home,
Sutton, with the Rev. William Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Braxton County Cemetery, near Sutton.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
