    • Carl Gene Bosley, 82, of Flatwoods passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2009, at a CAMC hospital in Charleston.

      Gene was born March 29, 1927, in Braxton County and was a son of the late Osey G and Blanch Keener Bosley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a precious grandson, Brian Hedrick of Williamsburg; and three brothers, Charles Bosley of Beckley, Ralph Bosley of Whitesville and Eugene Brady of Gassaway.

      Gene was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His fondest memories were of camping and fishing trips with his grandsons.

      He worked for 41 years as an engineer for B&B, B&O and CSX railroad companies. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW. He attended and was a member of Upper Glade Presbyterian Church.

      Gene was also a member of the Cowen Rebekah Lodge 105. He was the Past Grand of Cowen Lodge 176, as well as the Past District Grand Master of District 9 of the Grand Lodge of West Virginia. He was also a member of Red. Oak Encampment 128 and was the Past Chief Patriot.

      Gene is survived by his loving companion, Wanda Arnold of Cowen; daughters and their husbands, Pam and Max Jay Lockard of Flatwoods, Debbie and Jesse Pope of Asbury and Jeannie and Joe Grissom of Newalla, OK. Also surviving are five grandsons and their wives, Heath and Mindy Lockard of Salisbury, NC, Chad and Jamie Lockard of Flatwoods, Jason Hedrick of Williamsburg, Jon and Jessica Brandon of Oklahoma and Mike and Stacy Brandon of Oklahoma. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Payton and Baylea Lockard, Matthew Hedrick, and Dillon, Dalton, Jason, Amanda and Aaron Brandon; and one sister-in-law, Ina Bosley of Beckley.

      A celebration of Gene's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Stockert-Gibson-Sizemore Funeral Home, Flatwoods, with the Rev Peter Vail and the Rev Jesse Pope officiating. Burial will be in Braxton County Cemetery, near Sutton.
