  Notes	Ellen L. Brew, a Bay Area resident for 42 years and a mother of eight, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View. She was 94. Mrs. Brew was born in Sturgis, Mich., in May 1925, to Joseph and Clarice Linder. After World War II, she moved to Washington, D.C., with a high school friend and subsequently was hired for the secretarial pool in the Truman White House. Ellen met Arthur J. Brew, a native of Washington, D.C., and a US Marines veteran, in 1947 and they were married in Sturgis in 1950. Mr. Brew began a lengthy career working for the federal government in the US and abroad while Ellen raised seven boys and a daughter. Her children were born in the United States, Okinawa and Germany. Mrs. Brew, a devout Catholic, has been a resident of Villa Siena senior home in Mt. View since 2011. She is survived by her sons — Thomas, Patrick, Christopher, Fred, John, and Michael — and a daughter, Cecilia Long. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Joseph Linder Brew, who died in 1970. Source: Cusimano Colonial Mortuary
