Nellie was born on August 31, 1938 in Gassaway, West Virginia to the late Sharlet and Floyd Carpenter. Nellie retired from Sherwood Manufacturing. Nellie is survived by her daughter, Darlene Higgins; a daughter-in-law, Laura Eberling; seven grandchildren, Timothy Unkefer, Barry Schroeder, Carolyn Nicole Fountain, David Unkefer, Clifford J. (Alicia) Eberling III, Aaron (Devin) Eberling and Zakary Eberling and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Burl Carpenter, Rowena Ludu, Rosie Best, Susan (Ronnie) Emplit, Donald Carpenter, Thomas Carpenter and Louise Marks. Besides her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford J. Eberling who passed away on August 9, 2018; a daughter, Carolyn Unkefer; a son, Clifford J. Eberling II; two sisters, Audrey Graham and Diana Rose; a brother, Paul Carpenter; two sisters-in-law, Doris Carpenter and Carol Carpenter and a brother-in-law, Jim Marks. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home.
